MEIT Consultants undertook the design for new UPS systems to support the critical services at Barclays’ offices in Northampton. This involved repurposing a number of basement store rooms to provide new UPS rooms. This required detailed coordination to ensure the equipment fitted within the rooms.

MEIT Consultants have undertaken the refurbishment of a number of floors within Portsoken House: Basement, Lower Ground, Ground, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th & 8th. The basement contains plant room as well as changing and bike storage facilities which have been refurbished. The lower ground contained a self-contained office with an impressive 5m floor to ceiling height. The ground floor contains a new reception with associated feature lighting. The 8th floor departed from the normal fit out with exposed services, similar to the lower ground floor.

This project involved a strip out of the existing Cat B back to shell and core and fit out of new CAT B services for Bandai Namco Group. The existing building was three floors off office area with basements and roof plant totalling 20,300 sqft net. The new fit out provided office space, meeting rooms, a games area and feature reception with business lounge, vend areas and a high level of finishes.

The second of two new build Data Centres on the Campus. For the first DC we provided a Peer Review, for the second DC we were engaged to provide full design duties. We have provided full design duties from Stage 2 (Concept) through to Stage 4 (Technical Design).

The project delivered a new data centre consisting of 2 No. 2000kW and 2 No 3000kW data centre pods, including roof and ground floor external plant areas.

This project included new plant and controls system such as;

Dual MV supplies on-site – 132kV – 11kV.

15MVA of MV containerised generators providing N+1 redundancy within an external compound, complete with new generator control systems including G59 parallel operation.

New Static UPSs configured on a distributed redundant arrangement. 4 No per hall.

IAC solutions for the data halls based on N+1 redundancy.

Generator Refurbishment

This project included the refurbishment of the original 1983 Harland and Wolff generator sets, as well as a replacement of the generator switchboard. The project also saw an introduction of a new dual redundant power monitoring system to integrate into the new generator switchboard, substations, BMS system etc.

The project was completed without disruption to Lloyd’s of London by means of temporary generators integrating into the existing utility substations.

Rising Busbar Replacement

This project comprised of the replacement of the essential and mechanical rising busbars which are currently installed within external service risers for each tower.

This project consisted of multiple floor fit-outs to create new usable IT space.

To accommodate the new IT spaces. New transformers, MV switchgear, MV generators, Turbocor Chillers, PV etc were installed to facilitate the new IT space.

Fitout of entire building from Cat A landlords specification including 30 traders with chilled desks; a 2nd floor client suite, MER and SER.
New Critical electrical infrastructure installed throughout the building with a 350 kVA generator installed on roof and 2N UPS systems installed in basement.
New Critical chilled water system installed with 90 kW chillers installed on the roof for the MER, SER, Trader desks, UPS and security room cooling.

Barclays took 2 ½ floors at the TaunusTurm building in Frankfurt after their current lease at their Frankfurt headquarters expired.

The project consisted of completely new and dedicated services to Barclays, including new critical cooling, 2 x 200kVA UPS systems and the associated switchboards, distributed out to critical IT and users on a 2N basis.

A full high spec, Cat ‘B’ fit out throughout.

Strip out and fitout of two floors of a live Barclays building from Shell and Core complete with 136 Traders. New resilient services installed throughout the floor using new infrastructure.
