Meit Consultants have had the pleasure of working with Kao Data since 2019 and were involved in providing MEP design services following the completion of their first Data Centre, KLON 01, located in Harlow.

Meit Consultants, working collaboratively with Kao Data, JCA, MCa and Abstruct adopted the principles of KLON 01, and provided quality-of-life improvements which included fundamental changes to a number of the critical services as well as general improvements to administrative and ancillary areas.

As part of these works, Meit Consultants were involved in the MEP design of the wider site-wide campus design, KLON 02, the subsequent third and fourth Data Centres planned for the campus (KLON 03 & KLON 04), taking the design from Stage 2 to Stage 4 with Kao Data, before being novated to JCA and delivering a Stage 5 design.

• 1800 racks across 3400sqm of technical space via 4No technical suites.

• PUE <1.264 (estimated)
• Improvements to the overall MV scheme design, now incorporating a generator closed ring topology
• Energy Efficient Cooling to the technology Suites using hot aisle containment with a combination of adiabatic free cooling with mechanical cooling assistance

This project covered the strip out and fit-out of 1 floor at for a financial institutions UK Head Office – London.
The project consisted of the strip out of their 5th floor facilities and the fitout geneal office accommodation and hub / break out spaces.

The project consisted of the strip out of their 6th floor facilities, expansion of critical IT infrastructure to serve this floor (pre contract works) and the fitout of a multiple purpose floor including;

High end meeting rooms
Chairman’s Offices and Areas
Terrace Fitout for Entertaining
SER (Satellite Equipment Rooms)
Kitchen and Catering Areas to serve the business lounge

This project also included for the fit-out of all new shower and washroom facilities at Lower Ground floor, as well as the installation of a new telepresence boardroom on the 7th floor.

Second phase of a multiple Data Centre campus utilising indirect evaporative cooling.

Modifications to an existing standby power arrangement for a live data centre facility. This consisted of the replacement of the existing 6No Generator Controllers and the introduction of 2No 8000A Generator Synchronisation Switchboards complete with dedicated new switchrooms without any interruptions to the normal business operation of the facility.

This project consisted of the refurbishment of 3No galleries (floors) at the Lloyd’s building.

Works generally consisted of strip out works and connection to the existing centralised M&E plant.

This project consisted of an new 1.2MW Data Hall, expandable to 1.6MW.

To accommodate the new IT space, new transformers, UPSs, MV generators, Dry Air Coolers and CRAC Units were installed to facilitate the new IT space.

The role was to support the client in a client representative position for the commissioning and testing attendance for the new UPS systems and associated infrastructure and systems being installed at Raffles Quay, Singapore. The UPS serves an existing UBS Data Centre facility.

The works were conducted over a 3 week period on site in Singapore and our role included pre testing conference calls, detailed review of the testing documents and procedures and attendance on site to oversee the testing procedures and establish that the tests were being correctly conducted and recorded. Timely reports to the business were issued at key milestones during the testing period. All issues and their mitigations were reported along with any escalations necessary.

Extensive rationalisation and supplementation of the building fresh air and ventilation system to satisfy increased occupant densities/overall building headcount.
